Using ogimage.info
Only check pages you're allowed to. The tools are provided as they are, without any guarantee that results are complete or correct.
How checks work
- When you check a page, our server requests it like a social network would, as
ogimage.info-bot, and reads the tags in its<head>. It also loads the start of the share image to get its size. - To find a site's pages, it reads the site's
robots.txtand sitemap, or the links on its homepage. - Bulk checks are paced, at about 90 requests a minute at most, so they don't load anyone's site.
- Only public pages can be checked: private and local addresses are blocked.
What we can't check
- Pages that block us, such as those behind a bot firewall or challenge, a login, or a paywall.
- Pages that return an error, or don't respond in time.
- Tags added by JavaScript after the page loads. Like the social networks, we read the page as the server sends it.
Results show what we saw when we checked. A site can serve different pages to different visitors, and each network keeps its own copy of a preview, so what they show can differ from our results.
Page checks
Page checks are bought through Polar, which is the seller and handles payment. Each page checked uses one, and they don't expire. A page we couldn't check still uses one.
